| Culinary and Cultural Delights We have combined two favorite activities, the Red Hat Society luncheons and the Conversation and Cuisine lunches into one activity. So if you are a member of the Fort Lupton Red Hat Society, please feel free to wear a red hat and a purple dress/pantsuit/shirt to join our Queen Mother, Nancy Penfold for these luncheons. But you do not have to be a Red Hatter to join us for titillating conversation and exquisite cuisine.
Cripple Creek Gaming & Fall Colors Trip A two-day/one night trip is scheduled for the Womack Casino in historic Cripple Creek. We will lodge at the Gold King Inn with a side trip the second day on the Victor Narrow Gauge Railroad. Price includes lodging, 2 breakfasts, 1 discounted lunch, 1 dinner, 2 casino coupon books, the Cripple Creek Train ride, a stop at the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs and all the fun you can have! Colorado Railroad Museum Touch history as we tour the Colorado Railroad Museum with over 90 historic and standard locomotives, cabooses and railcars. The museum building is a replica of a 1880s style depot which houses thousands of rare photos, artifacts and documents illustrating the colorful history of the railroads in Colorado.
Breakfast in Estes Park If you enjoyed the summer breakfasts, take advantage of one more opportunity to have a gourmet breakfast including pancakes, bacon, eggs, biscuits and gravy, sausage patties, homemade cinnamon rolls, fresh fruit, home-style potatoes, juice and coffee. This time of year we will see some awesome foliage on the trip.
Jester’s Theatre - Production of “MAME” Jester’s Theatre in Longmont offers a $10 bargain ticket on Friday night and we take advantage of it. Appetizers and desserts are available for purchase if desired. Enjoy and laugh throughout the classic, “MAME”. Reservations are required by October 31.
Boulder Dinner Theatre - “The Producers” Enjoy a gourmet dinner and live theatre at its best with this production of Mel Brooks’ hilarious “The Producers”. Limit of 12 tickets
Fishing –Location to be determined If you enjoyed the summer fishing day or couldn’t get away to go that day, here is your last chance to get a full day of fishing. Remember to bring your license. Departs at 6 am and returns about 5 pm.
Senior Center Lunch Outings Periodically one or two senior centers are visited for lunch and socializing. This Fall we are visiting Johnstown and Lochbuie.
Senior Days at the Brighton Colorado Cinema Enjoy first run movies and discounted popcorn and sodas every fourth Tuesday of the month. $3.00 plus $7.00 ticket at the theatre.
Festival of the Trees The 2008 Festival of the Trees offers the celebration of the holidays in a winter wonderland of beautifully decorated trees and wreaths. We will be attending the Silver Bells Social for Seniors which has the joyous sounds of Christmas and magnificent yuletide displays.
United States Air Force Academy at UCCC Soon after the United States Air Force Academy was formed, the Air Force mandated that to support troop morale, recruiting and community relations, a musical ensemble would be created to reflect the Academy’s peerless standards. We will all enjoy this timeless musical ensemble in concert.
Colorado History Live In cooperation with the Adult Education Outreach program of the Fort Lupton Library, we are presenting a Live Historical Vignette of Molly Brown featuring dramatist; Barbara Daubenspeck. Then in December we will be having a tour and tea at the historic Molly Brown House in downtown Denver.
The BIG READ In cooperation with the Adult Education Outreach program of the Fort Lupton Library, members of the Active Adults program will be reading “Fahrenheit 451” and then meeting to discuss the book. We will receive and distribute the books the last part of September. After reading it, we will meet October 29 for discussion.

New Mexico Cultural Walking Tour The Land of Enchantment is calling you! Join our first ever New Mexico Cultural Walking Tour. Leave early morning of October 13th and enjoy the beautiful scenery throughout southern Colorado and northern New Mexico. After staying at the historic and haunted St. James Hotel the first night, you will enjoy a full day in Cimarron at the Philmont Museum & Seton Memorial Library, the 1927 Villa Philmont, the beautiful Spanish Mediterranean style summer home of Waite Phillips and the Kit Carson Museum at Rayado, furnished to the period of the 1850’s when Kit Carson and Lucien Maxwell carved out a wilderness ranch along the Santa Fe Trail. After touring historic Cimarron and lunch, you will travel to Taos which has been an art colony since the ‘30s. You will enjoy the luxury of the Comfort Suites that night (October 14) with a complimentary breakfast the next morning and then spend the rest of the morning at local art galleries, museums and shops. The Martinez House and the Mabel Lojan Gallery are not to be missed! You will then journey to the City of Gold Hotel & Casino just north of Santa Fe where you will be staying for two nights (October 15 & 16). Santa Fe offers an endless variety of entertaining history, art and shopping. You will have the opportunity to visit the world renown Plaza Indian Market. The Indian craftspeople bring in their wares and display them on blankets in the Plaza. Browsing is encouraged! You can also visit the Palace of the Governors, the oldest house in Santa Fe, the Museum of Indian Art and Culture, the Museum of Fine Arts, the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum and the world famous church with the spiral staircase. Art lovers can visit Canyon Road with blocks and blocks of unique and distinctive art galleries. Return trip is on Friday, October 17 with stops in Raton and Pueblo arriving at the Recreation Center approximately 7:00 pm. |
