The City:
Situated in southern Weld County, with a population of approximately 7,500, the City of Fort Lupton, just 25 miles north of Denver, 25 miles east of Boulder, and 25 miles south of Greeley, with ready access to E-470, Interstate 25, Interstate 76, the Denver International Airport and the Rocky Mountains, with its small town atmosphere, progressive facilities, water, and space available for growth, continues to provide an attractive and ideal location for business, small industry, and families alike.

Fort Lupton finds itself at the crossroads of progress. Due in large part to its location, Fort Lupton is in the path of growth. We have a nationally recognized Community/Recreation Center, parks and trails, and pedestrian bridge over the scenic South Platte River. On the east side, a growing AIMS community College, South Weld County Services, Fire District Station and National Guard, and Halliburton expansion to the south side. All of this makes it is easy to see why Fort Lupton is optimistic regarding its future.

The Fort Lupton Police Department is seeking qualified officers dedicated to excellent service. Starting annual salary range is $41,800 to $44,500 along with an excellent benefit package.

  • Must be Colorado P.O.S.T. certified, or certified within 30 days of submission of application
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must possess a valid drivers license
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
Disqualifiers:
The following is not an all inclusive list that may disqualify you from being a Fort Lupton Police Officer. Other standards may make you subject to disqualification.
  • Conviction of a felony
  • Conviction of any crime involving domestic violence
  • Use of Marijuana within the past 5 years
  • Use of any illegal drugs, except Marijuana, with the past 10 years
  • Conviction of any alcohol, controlled substances, drugs or other illegal substance related driving offense within the past 5 years
  • Arrest, conviction of, or deferred prosecution or deferred judgments for reckless driving within 5 years
  • Release or discharge from the Armed Forces of the United States under dishonorable conditions

The selection process may include the successful completion of the following:
  • Written Test
  • Physical Fitness Test
  • Oral Interviews
  • Background Investigations
  • Final Interviews
  • Computerized Voice Stress Analysis (CVSA) or Polygraph Exam
  • Medical Assessment
  • Drug Screen
  • Psychological exam
Once hired, an intensive 14-week Field Training Program begins where the new officer is closely evaluated by experienced training officers.
