The Patrol Division of the Fort Lupton Police Department is the backbone of the entire organization.
All police activity begins with either a radio call to or a sight action by a patrol officer. This begins the process of the officer taking a report of a criminal incident and entering that report into the Records Management System. In late 2008 all of the patrol cars were outfitted with Mobile Data Terminals, a fancy term for laptop computers mounted in the car. However these allow the officers to maximize their time. From this terminal, the officer can check for warrants, find out who owns the vehicle they have stopped, check for criminal history at a location, and write all of their reports, all from the front seat of the car. In the past officers had to return to the station to write reports which meant they were not patrolling the city.
Each Patrol car also has a mounted video camera inside. This camera comes on automatically when the overhead lights are turned on. Each officer wears a microphone that transmits everything said by the officer or the citizen back to the car for recording. These recordings are downloaded to a computer at the station every day and saved for a period of one year. This allows review of the incident in case of a dispute as to the facts of the contact.
Below please find the e-mail address of each patrol officer. Please feel free to ask questions.
