The water system consists of:

•  Fort Lupton-Hudson microfiltration Water Treatment Plant, with a rated capacity of 4.3 million gallons a day. This plant is a state of the art facility, treating only rocky mountain surface water.

• Storage tanks consisting of one 500,000 gallon raw water storage tank at the water plant, one 3,000,000 gallon treated water tank, and two 1,000,000 gallon treated water tanks. In addition, there is a 1,000,000 gallon well water storage tank used for irrigation and industry.  

• A water booster pump station.

• 5 wells providing South Platte River alluvial water for irrigation and industrial usage.

 The wastewater system is composed of the following:

• Conventional activated sludge treatment plant that routinely exceeds EPA discharge requirements. This plant is rated by the State of Colorado to treat up to 2.75 million gallons per day. The treated water is returned to the South Platte River.

• Biosolids produced at the plant are beneficially reused as a soil amendment to Colorado croplands.

• 3 sewer pumping stations, commonly referred to as “lift stations,” which convey the city’s industrial, business, and residential wastewaters to the treatment plant for processing.
