The City of Fort Lupton, The Historic Preservation Board and the FL Chamber of Commerce invite you to participate in a Scarecrow Competition

About this Event

This October, the City of Fort Lupton, Historic Preservation Board, and Chamber of Commerce are excited to announce the first-ever Fort Lupton Scarecrow competition. There will be two categories: 1) Business/ Non Profit and 2)Households.

For Businesses/ Non Profit: Once registration is received (by no later than September 25th!) you will be provided with information to receive a scarecrow base comprised of 2 x 4s. For the business competition, these must be used so that the scarecrows can be displayed along Denver Avenue in downtown Fort Lupton, Business participants are encouraged to design a scarecrow that reflects the spirit of your business or organization. Scarecrows must not be designed in any way that would damage or destroy City streetlight posts in any manner, including but not limited to attaching a scarecrow that is overweight or oversized, applying glue or paint that may adhere to a light post, etc.

For Households: Household participants are free to create a scarecrow of your choice, although all scarecrows must be family-friendly to be included. Participants must contact Alyssa Knutson by no later than October 5 at 5 PM (contact information provided on the Registration Form) to confirm that their scarecrow is complete and have an official photo taken of the scarecrow for online voting. No base will be provided for the household competition. Display the scarecrow where it can be easily viewed by the public for voting.

For Businesses & Households: Scarecrows must be dressed in good taste and appropriate for viewing by the public and families, Materials to decorate scarecrows must be provided by the participant. Participants must be willing to allow the public to view your scarecrow, take photographs, and be included on social media to take part. All scarecrows should be designed so that they are durable as they may be subjected to severe weather conditions. Scarecrow participants are responsible for monitoring the state of their scarecrow for the duration of the contest.

Voting will take place online from October 10, 2020 - October 30, 2020, and is open to the public. Prizes will be awarded for the First, Second, and Third Place winners of both the Business and Household Categories. Winners will be announced on October 31, 2020.
