  1. Janet Stevens: Visit with an Illustrator at Twombly Elementary

    March 10, 2020, 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM

Janet Stevens began drawing as a child. Pictures decorated her walls, mirrors, furniture and school work -- including math assignments. While this didn't always sit well with her teachers, it was what she loved to do. "My goal is to encourage reading, writing, drawing, storytelling and creativity through my childhood experiences and the process of making books. I try to answer the question "Where do ideas come from?" Then I show how to take the idea and expand. The highlight of each presentation is an interactive drawing with the kids. They help me dress a book character and then leave with the challenge of creating a story for their character."
